Through changes and big emotions, life can often feel out of control. Empower your child by giving choices in how to put clean dishes away. Share how we can honor God with the choices we make.

Start the Game
Say: We’re going to work together as a team! But I want YOU to be in charge of how we work together. We’re going to put the clean dishes away. You get to choose how to help. Let’s go!

Unload the Dishwasher / Put Away Clean Dishes
Give your child the choice of which dishes they want to help with.
For example:
Do you want to put the cups away or the plates?
Do you want to put away the silverware or the bowls?

Praise & Prayer
When the dishes are completed, thank your child for taking charge, making choices, and helping. To celebrate, allow your child to choose a song to play when you are finished.
Say: Thank you for helping me with the dishes. I love that we were able to work as a team. I know I can trust you to get the job done. Did you know we can honor God everyday with the choices we make? We can choose to show kindness to others. We can choose to listen to our teachers. We can choose to clean up our messes. We can choose to thank God for His blessings. God calls us to honor him with the choices we make. Share a choice you’ve made recently that honors God.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for giving us the opportunity to make choices every day. Please help us to make choices that honor you. Help us to remember your love for us, and help us to choose to love others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
