Empowered to Connect – Rewind
Empowered to Connect (ETC) is an attachment rich community focused program that exists to support, resource, and educate caregivers. Each year, Show Hope and the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development hold an Empowered to Connect conference which is simulcasted to thousands of locations with a message of hope under girded with truth and compassion.
ETC’s resources and trainings are especially helpful for caregivers of children who have experienced adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), toxic stress, and maltreatment. We rely heavily on the model of Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®) created by Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross at the TCU Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development.
What: We are changing it up for the 2020 Empowered to Connect Conference, presented by Show Hope and Focus on the Family. In years past, we have hosted a live event that has been available via simulcast. For 2020, however, we are changing to an individual- or family-viewing option for parents, caregivers, ministry leaders, and professionals. This includes a rebroadcast of the 2018 or 2019 Empowered to Connect Conference respectively along with a viewing guide and new practical application content.
When: April 1, 2020 – May 31, 2020

Will training credits for adoptive and foster parents be available?
Each adoptive or foster parent can receive a certificate of attendance. Please contact the Wait No More team by email at [email protected] to request certificates. Attendees are responsible for providing the certificate to their agency, and it is at the agency’s discretion whether or not to count participation toward training credits. To be eligible with your agency to receive training credits, each participant will need to turn in to their agency a copy of each certificate and it is beneficial to also provide them the schedule of the conference. There is no need to sign up with Show Hope for adoptive/foster training credit.
Who should view the conference material?
The conference content is beneficial for adoptive parents, foster parents, potential adoptive or foster parents, and ministry leaders or professionals serving children. The conference content is designed for group settings, such as within a church, benefiting adoptive and foster families as well as caregivers.
