Manager, Foster Care and Adoption

Derek Carter

Derek Carter is the manager of Focus on the Family’s foster care and adoption program.  Prior to coming on staff at Focus, he led worship for over 25 years as a music and worship pastor with a dual role of establishing a foster care and adoption ministry within the church.

Derek understands the vital role that the church can play in supporting foster and adopt families, while also wrapping around the child welfare workers in their community.  Over the past 15 years, Derek and his wife, Holly, have been foster parents and have welcomed six children into their family – four of them adopted through foster care.
